As part of the refurbishment of the main reception area of 33 Gracechurch Street in the city of London, we were asked to design and create a hanging 'cube like' feature - an overhead fabric shade with space for lighting.

The form itself is an aluminium construction, made from sections of box, fabricated T and folded flat sections. The bottom of the unit accommodates continuous strips of LED lighting to add localised lighting as a detail to the canopy.

The fabric, specified by the architect, was imported from the USA and chosen for its unusual pattern.

The refurbishment was carried out by Cameron Black and the architects were Morey Smith.
