This protective stair canopy installed at Cardiff was commissioned as part of an ongoing project to ‘open up’ much of the castle areas that were previously inaccessible to the public.

The canopy, manufactured from PVC coated polyester, was installed to protect the public and the stair structure from the rain, as a new penetration in the floor would potentially mean rain flow to the lower interior space.

The structure was also designed for easy removal and refitting, when cleaning was required and weather conditions permitted.
