We were delighted to assist JTP Architects with their prestigious new offices based in the Old Rum Warehouses, EW1, designing and installing strategic sun shading elements.

The client was keen to retain as much natural light in the central light well, so we designed a series of fins that face north, shading the southern sun, while allowing the light from the north to penetrate down.

The sail design was incorporated into a 3D model, where we analysed the sun path to check the sails provided complete coverage.

The fabric used is a close weave glass mesh fabric, offering predictable solar gain information, as well as no stretch and the highest of fire ratings.

A second single sail was also installed, to provide further sun protection later in the day for those sunny evenings.
